Kāhu Kōrako wānanga

The second wānanga of the Aroora Māori Leadership Programme Te Rōpū Kāhu Kōrako Tuatoru (Kāhu Kōrako – Group 3) was held over three days in the breath-taking Rangitīkei region of New Zealand's central North Island at the River Valley Lodge. Thirteen emerging Māori leaders from various CLM facilities and programmes throughout Aotearoa comprise Te Rōpū Kāhu Kōrako Tuatoru.

The Kāhu Kōrako wānanga, designed and organized by Scott Linklater and his Aroora team, are intended to challenge the participants as individuals, team players, and leaders by immersing them in the taiao (outdoors and nature) and taking them out of their everyday routines. River Valley Lodge is known for its adventurous activities.

Te Rōpū Kāhu Kōrako Tuatoru underwent a series of physical activities, including white water rafting, hiking, and mountain biking, as well as thought-provoking evening huis.

CLM’s General Manager Geoff Barton was fortunate enough to attend the wānanga and highlighted the benefits by saying, “all who participated left as improved individuals, having gained a deeper understanding of themselves and others, a sense of belonging, and a sense of connection and family through their enhanced maramatanga, whanaungtanga, and whakapapa.”
