Little Blue Penguin Trust

The Little Blue Penguin Trust

The Little Blue Penguin Trust is a charitable trust formed in support of the Korora penguins in New Zealand in 2006. With the number of the world's smallest penguins declining in New Zealand, the trust was formed to educate and make the community more aware of the Little Blue Penguin, including its threats and its habitat.
The Little Blue Penguin Trust uses its funds to research, promote and conserve the penguins, and here at CLM we continue to support their efforts.

Kori the Penguin is Chill Out Kids Programmes and SwimMagic Swim School's mascot and is a Little Blue Penguin.  The Little Blue Penguin Trust is dear to CLM and we generally fundraise for the trust during Term 1 Theme Week.

Cystic Fibrosis NZ

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited disease and is the most common life threatening disease in New Zealand. It can affect many organs in the body, but will generally have a particular detriment on the lungs and pancreas. It clogs organs with a thick mucus, which, in the lungs can heavily affect breathing, and in the pancreas stop the enzymes from helping to digest food. Currently there is no cure for Cysitc Fibrosis, but by fudraising for Cystic Fibrosis NZ we are comfortable in knowing we are contributing to helping research the disease and enhancing quality of life for those living with it - from babies through to adults.

This is important to CLM as among us, Jamie Archibald, Manager of Massey Park Pool, is currently living with Cystic Fibrosis himself. Jamie is married with two children and is greatly valued at CLM. In support of him and all others living with his condition, we continue to contribute to Cystic Fibrosis NZ.

CLM also supports the Ronald McDonald House with the Annual Rev-athon. Ronald McDonald House pride themselves in support they provide as being a home away from home for families of children staying in the National Children's Hospital. Although based in Auckland, RMHA's scope is nation wide and does what it can for those all over the country.

This is an important event for CLM as our former employee Toni Clough devastatingly lost her step-child to a rapidly growing Leukaemia. In 2014 we presented $20,000 to the Ronald McDonald House from our 24 hour fundraising event. Each year we gather employees and members from our facilities, get in teams, and keep our stationary spin bikes running for 24 hours. We get spin classes running to keep the energy high and adrenaline pumping. We are also backed by Ronald McDonald House 100%, with their CEO attending the event we held in 2014. The awesome community feel is also largely rewarding, and we look forward to continuing our support for this awesome cause.

City Mission

The Auckland City Mission works towards providing a better standard of living for those battling against poverty, addiction, and crisis situations. In 2014 the Auckland City Mission provided more than 11,000 emergency food parcels to families and individuals that were in desperate need.

CLM choose to run a can drive every year around Christmas time. In your nearest facility in December you will find an area where you can give any food cans or presents in for our CLM staff to take into the City Mission just in time for Christmas!
